New York City!!???!!!!

Hello friends!! Under very unexpected circumstances, I'm in New York City from today until next Sunday, Sept 21. I'm trying my best to book a show while I'm here. It's very short notice, however, and I'm having some trouble locking one down. If you live here in NYC, and you could help me get a show, or if you and you're friends could gather some people at some random location where I won't be arrested, I'd love to play for you guys. Message me on the myspace and let me know. It'll be a fun, and I'll tell you the story of why I'm here. I can't post it on the internet...my mom reads this stuff sometimes.

You've put me back into position to go to the final round, which is a show in Austin the night before ACL for the top 5 bands in this contest. The winner of that show plays at ACL the next day! Alright, so I haven't posted any video in a while, so here is a little to keep you busy:

You're almost rid of me

To all you lonely souls needing a thursday night to remember, have I got a treat for you. As you know, my homeless stint in Chicago is winding up now, and to celebrate me leaving (because I know you're all sick of me sleeping at your places and eating your food and just generally smelling awful) the Horseshoe is throwing me a going away party. It's at 9pm tomorrow night. Tomorrow being thursday the 31st of august. I hope to see everyone I've had a conversation with at the show. It's your last chance until September to see me. I'm going home to finish my LP and then plan my homeless stretch in Los Angeles, which I fear will be slightly more difficult to deal with than Chicago (bravo, chicago transit system). I'll miss all you hot dog eating, cubs or white sox hating or loving, deep dish pizza making, shot taking, head-aching, cookie baking sons of bitches!! I loved it here and I can't wait to come back. See you tomorrow!

I'm doing well in this competition to play at ACL this year, and it's all due to the friends, family and fans that have been voting. Thank You! Yo Peeps-

I miss my friends. But I'm learning Chicago pretty well, and feeling more comfortable here. I can't wait to see Austin again, though, so don't think I'm gone forever. I've been writing a lot of songs up here. Throwing yourself into circumstances such as mine can make you look at life in a very poetic way. It's amazing. Everything I see and experience just seems like a song waiting to happen. Walks I take, conversations I fake, the rising stakes. The sun is usually rising when I go to bed. It's all very romantic. I can't wait for y'all to hear some of the new stuff. Some of it might make it on the new record. We'll see. There is a party bus boarding outside right now and it's taking everyone to a rock show. I'm definitely getting on it. And that ain't no metaphor. I kind of love this city.

Sleeplessness

Played my first show in Chicago last night. Went Well. Finding a place to sleep every night is proving to be quite stressful. Last night the sun was definitely out by the time I went to bed. Show tomorrow. Trying to find a safe place to take a nap today. Tour dates still being booked. mind slowing down. fingers...can't....type...............

Arrived in Chicago

I'm in Chicago. I arrived yesterday. I've already met a thousand people I think, and I don't know what the hell is going on. But it's pretty fun at the same time. The first thing Heidi and I did was play on Fearless Radio literally 45 minutes after pulling into town. You can listen to the podcast from yesterday here:

New Full-Length coming out early Fall

That's right. Instead of an e.p., I've decided to go ahead and record a few more things and put out a brand new full length record. It's really exciting. Like Kevin Garnett, I'm so hyped right now. I'm going to finish it the second I get back to Austin after Chicago, and then release it on my own as soon as I can after that. It's time. Awesome, right?

The road is going well right now. We are playing to many more people than we expected in all the different cities. We've slept on the floors of strangers' houses. We've had sing-alongs galore. The urban outfitters in Bloomington is definitely spinning the baby bleu e.p. Word up. We're playing an extra show tonight in Indianapolis at a house party, so that is gonna be awesome. We're in Chicago on monday playing an internet radio station at 5pm (central standard). It's called fearless radio. Just go to www.fearlessradio.com on monday at 5pm (central) and you'll hear it. Back in the Studio

What’s up, y’all. How was your SXSW? Did you have fun? Sweet. I’m just gonna go ahead and leak out the news. Don’t tell your friends (wink). I’m recording a new e.p. which should be done in the next month. It’s going to be so good. I can’t even believe it. Once again, I’ll be recording at Hot Tracks!!! My recording studio in Austin. Matt Smith will be producing it, and the awesome band I’ve rounded up recently is going to be playing all over it. I think I’ll play drums on it, though. Just for fun. It’ll be 4 or 5 brand new songs. Love you!
